He'll pocket that lighter, despite the temptation to put it away in a drawer and not look at it for a while. The weight's a reminder, but it's not like he needs one. It's hard to go backward— but he's not, he's not. He's not alone, won't be, no matter what comes first. Whether they return or he does. He'll keep going. That's all that he can do.

Good boy, Tatsuma... he thinks; he'll have to pick up some sort of treat for him later.

[ Once she's dropped her bag off, Kaede will deviate from her established routine to drop off a wrapped package for a certain birthday boy. She debates leaving it in the mailbox, but she would prefer it not be outside overnight, and she figures he might not be the type to check it regularly, so here she is knocking on the door of Gokudera's house. Hopefully he likes what she has chosen as his gift, especially the wine color. She found it much more eye-catching than the black or grey options.

[ At first he ignores the knock, thinking that it might be for Badr, or that he just imagined it in the first place— but eventually he gets up, takes a look outside before he opens the door and— wait, what. ]

Huh? You? [ He blurts out ungracefully when the door's open, and he stands there dumbly for a second, Uri the cat winding between his feet to investigate the situation. Gokudera blinks hard behind his reading glasses to actually make sure that he's not hallucinating— not that he'd ever hallucinate a visit from Kaede, of all people. But this place is strange, the landlord is strange (if that goddamn piano proves anything), so you never know. ]

[ Kaede would be lying if she said that she did not spend more time than planned decoding the message he her mystery gifter left for her. But, her tiredness from last-minute gift selections and wraps and house shenanigans has her falling asleep in bed, this failed attempt #1 in decoding the message. Around late morning on Christmas Day, a red & black gift box will be left with Gokudera's name on it. Inside are the pieces to this outfit (minus the sunglasses) and a simple note: ]

Despite our shaky first meeting, I think our friendship has held up pretty well! I hope your future time here in Holly Heights, if you do stay here longer, can be as "smooth" as these first few months. I would recommend keeping the mafia declarations to a limited capacity, though.

She doesn't hate her time here in Holly Heights, but the monotony of suburban life chafes sometimes.

Nonon shows up at the designated place at the designated time, ready to rock and roll. She's donned her goku uniform and brings the baton along for fun. The grin on her face while she keeps an eye out for Gokudera can only be called predatory. She may not be there to fight Gokudera, but her thirst for destruction is fathoms deep. ]

So he shows up in the forest at the specified time, freshly lit cigarette already burning between his lips. He keeps his expression cool, but he can't deny to himself that he's a little excited... and while he looks like he always does, dressed casually as ever, he's certainly armed and ready, relatively unassuming belt buckle that serves as the basis of his weapons system in place, just in case things turn sour.
